Lensa, a massive job-matching marketplace in the US, required a ruthless optimisation of its user acquisition pipeline. The objective was to increase the volume of completed user registrations and subsequent job applications by eliminating friction in the onboarding flow.

- Fragmented Flow: The onboarding experience was disjointed, overwhelming users with upfront data requests.
- High Drop-off: Users were abandoning the registration process at critical data-entry nodes, specifically during resume uploads and skills profiling.

I led a deep-dive analysis into the existing onboarding funnel, utilising heatmaps, session recordings, and A/B testing infrastructure to isolate the exact points of user attrition.
2. Psychological Funnel Engineering
I reconstructed the onboarding process into a multi-step, gamified sequence:
- Progressive Profiling: Replaced the daunting single-page form with bite-sized, contextual questions, reducing cognitive load.
- Micro-Interactions: Implemented dynamic feedback loops (e.g., “Great choice! We have 1,400 jobs matching that skill”).
- Copy Revamp: Transitioned the tone from “corporate sterile” to “dynamic and action-oriented.”
3. The “Lensa Lite” Design System
I architected a lightweight, modular design system specifically for the onboarding flow. This ensured visual consistency while allowing rapid iteration and deployment of new A/B testing variants without breaking the core architecture.
